Dental Filling
A dental filling is a way to restore a tooth damaged by decay back to its normal function and shape. The dentist removes the decayed tooth material, cleans the affected area, and then fills the cleaned out cavity with a filling material.
What is the process to get a dental filling?
First, our dentist will use a local anesthetic to numb the surrounding area where the tooth will be filled. Next the dentist will remove all the decay from the tooth.
After the decay and bacteria are removed, if the cavity is near the nerve, the dentist may put in a protective liner. The dentist will restore the tooth with a tooth colored filling or a silver filling based on the clinical situation. Once the material is in place, the dentist will finish and polish it.
